Op-ed: News media should protect identities until crime cases are adjudicated

The U.S. Supreme Court established in 1895 that the presumption of innocence for the accused lies at the foundation of our criminal justice system. Innocent until proven guilty is one of our most sacred principles. It is an American right, a human right. Yet, the reporting in our local newspapers and on the internet and television does not resonate with our most cherished values….”
